Each year fifty plus colleges/universities/conservatories from around the United States gather at the Florida Theatre Conference Annual Festival where acting, musical theatre, and technical auditions are held for over 250 high school juniors and seniors, and over 50 students transferring from Community and/or State Colleges. These are the first auditions held during the school year in Florida.
FOR ONE LOW FEE, colleges/universities/conservatories MUST use the Group Registration Form A and B to receive the following amenities:
- become a member in good standing of Florida Theatre Conference, and attend the festival,
- audition the gifted students of high school and state college theatre programs,
- list your program and school on both the FTC website and in the College/University guide issued to each audition candidate,
- take advantage of a College Fair booth to increase your institution’s exposure,
- advertise in the Festival program and College/University/Conservatory guide (see form at left),
- conduct workshops that can feature your individual talents and gifts.
- have your yearly production schedule listed on the FTC website calendar.
If you register as an Individual Member you will not receive the above amenities!
This is an opportunity for you and your institution to make a positive, lasting impression on a group of motivated students focused on continuing their arts education.
Student Auditions and Interviews
As one of the largest state theatre conference in the southeastern United States, the auditions and interviews with high school and transfer students afford your institution the opportunity to meet, to evaluate, and to recruit the brightest young theatre students from Florida. This is the first audition of the school year, and is very well attended.
Our Festival will be held at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida, from November 2nd through 5th, 2016. Transfer auditions will take place on LATE Thursday afternoon, with the high school auditions taking place on Friday. NEW!! ALL TECHNICAL AUDITIONS will be set up and held on LATE Thursday morning (Set Up time 11:00 AM; Tech Auditions 11:30 PM until 2:00 PM). Included in your group registration fee is one luncheon ticket for Friday Noon (for a small additional fee of $15.00 each all other college/ university/conservatory representatives are invited to a catered luncheon on Friday hosted by Florida Theatre Conference) this is a nice break in the audition cycle and a unique networking opportunity – to meet and form associations with your peers in the educational arts community.

These online forms will register you for the Annual Festival, and provide the information we will use in the College/University/Conservatory guide issued to the audition candidates. At the end of the form, you will have the opportunity to pay using a credit card through PayPal. The College Fair continues to be a valuable recruitment tool for colleges and universities. The Fair enables potential students and their parents or guardians to meet your institution’s representatives and to view display materials that showcase your programs. NEW!!! We have expanded the floor space for the College Fair to include the large dance studio adjacent to the Fine Arts Hall Theatre Lobby. No groups will have to use the Theatre Lobby Mezzanine.
Entrance to this fair is included in the one-time registration fee discussed above (Forms A and B). One table and two chairs will be provided. You can request extra tables and an electrical connection by completing the vendor form found at left. This online registration form can also be paid using a credit card, guiding you to the PayPal website when you click submit. Your participation in the fair will be highlighted in a special Fair section in the Festival Program, which is issued to each Festival participant.
The College Fair will take place in the lobby and dance studio of the new Fine Arts Hall on the Santa Fe Campus. This is a natural gathering place for students and teachers, as the main theatre and registration area are also located here. The mezzanine area will no longer be used for the College Fair.
Sponsoring Non-Auditioning Groups
Information for Colleges or Universities Bringing a Group of Students
Any college or university can sponsor a group of students – even if the institution does not want to send representatives to the auditions or participate in the College Fair. Any number of students from your institution may attend for a low student festival registration/membership fee of $45 each.
They can attend the more than 65 workshops conducted by college professors or trained theatre professionals. The workshops range from acting and dancing to assistance in finding an agent or auditioning in the professional arena. With paid festival registration they can attend any or all of the seven play festivals and showcases that will be appearing in the three theatres at SFC.
If you want to sponsor a non-auditioning group, complete the online Group Registration Form found to the left of this page. If you want your students to register and pay individually for their festival registration that form has also been provided.
Please consider sharing your talents by presenting a workshop for our attendees as a means of highlighting your presence at the festival. The festival offers more than 65 workshops a year, which may be targeted to a specific audience (like educators or transfer students) if you wish. These workshops are listed in some detail in the festival program and are highly sought after, so submit early!
