The Theatre for Youth Festival (TFY)- Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016
Membership in the Florida Theatre Conference allows individuals and groups to participate in an exciting, creative, and inspirational weekend of performances and workshops. At FTC’s annual festival in Gainesville, TFY participants perform their own work, watch other groups perform fun and thought-provoking shows, partake in stimulating and educational workshops, network with one another, and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded actors and artists.
Performing groups from around the state, representing all types of theatre for young audiences, travel to the annual TFY Festival at Santa Fe College and showcase their work. Santa Fe College is a lush, beautiful campus and is easily walked. The campus includes a teaching zoo and planetarium, on-site food court, and free parking. The TFY performances are the highlight, with an exceptional day of entertaining, thought-provoking, and energetic plays and musicals featuring the amazing talent of Florida’s theatre for young audiences performing ensembles. Immediately following each performance, the cast, crew, and production team meet privately with professional respondents and receive encouraging, constructive, and stimulating feedback. This play festival will be staged on Saturday in the Fine Arts Hall – a state-of-the-art facility. The Festival day is capped off by an exciting evening awards ceremony, celebrating Florida’s rich and diverse talent. Performance awards honoring TFY talent are included in the ceremony.
Eligible TFY groups include professional or amateur theatre companies or troupes, as well as public and private elementary, middle, and high schools. All productions must be intended for elementary school audiences. If you would like your group to perform at the Festival, complete both the online Group Registration Form and the Play Festival Registration Form found in the forms list at the left of this page. Many of these forms can be submitted online with a credit card payment option. If you prefer hard copy registration, please download the PDFs from the menus at the left of this page and submit via mail to Florida Theatre Conference 5650 Park Blvd. Suite 7 Pinellas Park, FL 33781.
After both forms are completed, you will receive a confirmation and a performance time slot. By performing in the Festival, you will be featured in the Festival Program issued to each person attending the festival.
If you have students who are high school junior or seniors in your group who would like to participate in the College Auditions or submit a scholarship application, there are spaces to check on the Group Registration Page and the fees will be added to your bill.
The deadline for submission is October 1st. Late registration is accepted through October 14th, however a late fee will be assessed.
